Welcome to Mr. Schaeper's Math Class

I believe all students are capable of being excellent math students. It only takes 10 things to be a competent math student:

  1. Be in class everyday for the prescribed 2 hours.
  2. While in class, work hard to complete your assignments.
  3. Always check your work to make sure it is correct.
  4. Take good notes including formulas, worked-out examples, and definitions.
  5. Review your notes at least daily.
  6. Turn in your completed assigments daily.
  7. Remember to ask for help when you need it.
  8. If you find that you have forgotten a skill from a prior math class, let me know and we will recover it together (ie fractions).
  9. Keep a positive attitude and keep moving forward.
  10. Don't waste time.

If you can do these things consistently day in and day out, you will be successful!

Every high school student in Texas is required to complete three years of mathematics including Algebra I, Geometry, and either Algebra II or Math Models. In addition, each student must pass the Math TAKS Test. At Mary Grimes, our math curriculum is aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge Skills (TEKS) so that every student can be a successful learner and pass the Math TAKS.

You will find links to the appropriate TEKS, a link to a sample TAKS test, and a syllabus for each math course at each of the links on the menu bar. As you look at the syllabus, please note that the numbers on the left represent days in an 18 week semester. Since at Mary Grimes a course must be completed in 6 weeks, then you have to complete at least three of those entries every day to finish on time. So let's get moving!
